At 18 months old, your child has probably been walking for some time. He or she will be clambering stairs, playing with dolls, kicking balls, sometimes more successfully than others, and using the furniture as a climbing frame. Knobs and buttons on TV’s and stereos are a fascination and locks and latches have become things to be fiddled with and worked out. These are all healthy signs of a child progressing normally to the next stage of their development and they are clues as to what the child needs to further that development.

They have become curious, which is a good thing. No longer content with soft toys, though of course they may still carry one, they are more interested in the hows and the whys.  Toys need to be brightly coloured and multi textured as before, but now, they have to actually do something. Bells need to sound when rung, farm animals need to make the right noises, cars must have horns and dolls must have the right colour dresses.

You can follow your child’s progress together as they grow with our fun growth chart. They are available in two styles, one for boys and one for girls. If your toddler likes to follow you outside, give them a job to do with our brightly coloured spade, fork and rake set. They’ll have hours of fun making sure you’ve got some clothes washing to do later.

When they come in from the garden, it’s bath time. “Croc in the tub” is a wind up bath toy that swims back and forth and will keep your child amused and keep their minds off the fact that they are getting clean, something no child likes to do. After bath time its bed and story time, we have a lovely range of bookends, designed to hold all of your toddler’s favourite bedtime stories.
